Invisible Places, Conference on Sound Urbanism and Sense of Place, Azores, Portugal, 2017.
(With speakers: Hildegard Westerkamp, Sam Auinger, Juhani Pallasma, Jordan Lacey, and more).
Part of conference’s program, the soundwalk invites the audience to listen to the presence and activity of the Electro-Magnetic Field (EMF).
Using a professional EMF detector, and industrial EMF devices, as well as the artist’s personal handmade instruments, the participants are guided through the city of Ponta Delgada to listen to the various radiations that propagate through space.
The presence and movements of radio-waves, microwaves and light radiations can be compared to an invisible architecture that exist beyond the usual scope of our perception. Revealed by the EM devices the acoustic signals of the various radiations allow the audience to explore the environment, while discovering the invisible soundscape that occupy its space.
